Daystar Television Network
Daystar Television Network has emerged as the fastest growing and second largest Christian television network in the world with over 50 television stations in major markets across the United States and a potential audience of over 128 million viewers in the U.S. alone. They also broadcast to more than 120 countries internationally. Daystar Television Network has a singular goal; to reach souls with the good news of Jesus Christ. With an extensive blend of interdenominational and multi-cultural programming, Daystar is committed to producing and providing quality television that will reach our viewers, refresh their lives, and renew their hearts.
Feed the Children
Feed The Children is a Christian, international, nonprofit relief organization that delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty, or natural disaster. It has grown into one of the world's largest private organizations dedicated to helping hungry and hurting people. Last year, Feed The Children shipped 135 million pounds of food and other essentials to children and families in all 50 states and in 32 foreign countries, supplementing almost 800,000 meals a day worldwide.
Ronald MacDonald San Diego
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities® of San Diego (RMHC®-SD) provides a home away from home for children and their families while the child is treated for serious, often life-threatening illnesses at San Diego Hospitals. Since 1980 the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego has provided a 12 bedroom home away from home for more than 12,000 families in need! Due to an overwhelming need, they are currently raising $15 million to build a world-class 47 Bedroom Ronald McDonald House.
San Diego Association of Black Journalists
SDABJ advocates on behalf of African-American journalists in San Diego. It is committed to strengthening ties among black journalists; sensitizing all media to the importance of fairness in the workplace for black journalists; and expanding job opportunities and recruiting activities for veteran, young and aspiring black journalists, while providing continued professional development and training.
San Diego Council on Literacy
The council was originally established to increase public awareness of literacy needs and services and to support cooperative efforts among literacy programs in the county. Since then, local literacy programs have increased in number and variety of services offered. Today, the council has gained the respect of literacy professionals across the country through its ability to unite diverse literacy programs and to gain support for local literacy efforts. The Literacy Network is comprised of over 20 literacy programs that provide free literacy assistance to adults, families and children in San Diego County. Last fiscal year (2007-2008) the Literacy Network served 117,980 total learners; 71,026 children and 46,954 adults.
